Get To Know Pastor Larry T. Crudup

 

Pastor Larry T. Crudup serves as the Senior Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. Pastor Crudup received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Religion and The Arts with a minor in Secondary Education from Belmont University, Nashville, TN in May, 2010. He is also a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, TX where he earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree.  He is currently Pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Ethical and Creative Leadership from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, OH.

Previously, Pastor Crudup served as the Assistant Pastor and Teaching & Ministry Elder of Sweet Home – The Pinnacle of Praise in Round Rock, TX under the leadership of Dr. Dante D. Wright I. Prior to his service at The Pinnacle of Praise, Pastor Crudup served as the Director of Christian Education at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Dallas, TX under the leadership of Pastor Allen G. Madison. He has also served as the Research Assistant to Rev. Dr. Brad Braxton, former Lois Craddox Professor of Homiletics, while attending seminary at Southern Methodist University, and holds a fellowship from The Fund for Theological Education (now The Forum for Theological Exploration). Pastor Crudup was licensed and ordained at Sweet Home – The Pinnacle of Praise in Round Rock, TX.

Pastor Crudup values preaching, and the ways that it encounters public faith. More importantly he values the voice and passion of young preaching beginning to understand their call. Pastor Crudup is a charter member of the Academy of Preachers who’s mission is to “Identify, Network, Support, and Inspire the Next Generation of Young Preachers.” It is with the Academy of Preachers that Pastor Crudup has helped to plan National Preaching Festivals for Young Preachers, Regional Preaching Festivals for Young Preachers, and Preaching Camps. Pastor Crudup as also published sermons with the Academy of Preachers, served as a mentor to young preachers, led preaching circles, and served an AoP Catalyst (the leadership team).
Academically Pastor Crudup desires to continue down the path of Pastor/Professor. Pastor Crudup is currently writing his dissertation proposal. His research topic is “Enacting Our Stories: Black Christian Identity Formation Leadership-As-Practice Theory For Congregational Leadership.” He desires to write on the Black experience in narrative leadership, Leadership-as-Practice theory and congregational change with a particular research interest in narrative theory as identity formation for congregational structuring and change.

Pastor Crudup is married to the wonderful Jacinta Crudup, his high school sweetheart, and they have a beautiful daughter named Zoë Alana Crudup.
